Bereavement Support Group

Our award-winning Bereavement Support Group supports members who have suffered the loss of a loved one.

The specially trained team is assisted by a professional psychotherapist and provides exceptional care and support. All bereaved members are contacted, usually around six weeks after the death, and offered ongoing telephone contact or home visits for a few months or for as long as is beneficial. To assist those who have very recently been bereaved or are planning a stone setting, a reference document has been prepared which provides practical guidance to help manage the immediate requirements following a death. This is available arksynagogue.org/bereavement-FAQ.

Many people never consider or discuss the end of their lives with their family. Sharing their wishes is often of great relief both for them and their families and to support these difficult conversations we have created an Advance Personal Information pack.  To complete the form, download it first to your computer.

Since our Bereavement Support Group started, help has been provided to over 1,000 people and the outstanding work they do was recognised in 2010 with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
